Location

The Church is located in the eastern part of India in the city of Kolkata (previously Calcutta), which is the capital city of the State of West Bengal. It is a cosmopolitan city with people from many provinces, speaking different languages and having varied religious, social and cultural practices. The Church is situated in the central part of the city, on one of the major arterial roads, Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose Road. The address of our Church is:

St. James’ Church
167, Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose Road,
Kolkata - 700 0014.
West Bengal.
India.

Our Church is a stone’s throw from “Mother House”, which is the world headquarters of the Missionaries of Charity, the religious order founded by Mother Teresa of Kolkata. In fact one of the organisation’s orphanages and social service centres is situated diagonally across the Church. The Church is flanked by two schools, St. James’ School (for boys) and Pratt Memorial School (for girls). St. James’ is the “mother church” of these two schools.
